FITSNews Morning Blast Email

A jump start on today's political news

I filled in for one of the other interns in doing the Morning Blast for three days in March. This involved me compiling the local headlines and political blogs from around the state into a formatted word document with URLs hyperlinked within it. The Morning Blast is sent every weekday morning around 7:15AM or earlier and is sent only once over the weekend to only those subscribers of the Morning Blast. This job began early, at about 5:00AM, and took a lot of time gathering all these news articles but it became easier every time I did it.

Advertising Sales Email Blast

ADVERTISING WITH FITS

Advertising sales pitch email
ASSIGNMENT #3

This
emailed sales pitch was directed towards Columbia, SC Advertising firms, Public Relations firms, Marketing, and Graphic Design companies. Twenty-five emails were sent that pitched our low advertising rates for their clients to gain exposure. The return was poor so Nancy and I revised our strategy to increase replies.

MORNING BLAST SUBSCRIPTION

Subscription sales pitch email
ASSIGNMENT #3

This sales pitch was sent by email to 100 people and advertised subscriptions for the Morning Blast news briefing. I received a list of associates and friends of Will Folks and compiled a mail merge of those individuals. I sent 100 individually addressed emails and received 8 responses. Follow-ups were then carried out with those individuals who replied.

Radio web banner advertisemet

FACE-OFF WITH FITS
Animated Leaderboard (728x90) Banner Ad

ASSIGNMENT #2

This advertisement goes along with the second assignment as well. I really enjoyed animated graphics and working with Photoshop. I tried many different fonts and transitions in place of the current animated graphics, but this final version seemed to be the best. Although this advertisement may be too much for the FITS website to handle in terms of the plethora of "Sic Willie heads" at the top of the web-page, it may look good on other promoting websites for the Face-off.

Animated FITSNews Radio Graphic - 1st version

THE SIC WILLIE SIDE SHOW
Animated Leaderboard (728x90) Banner Ad
ASSIGNMENT #2

This animated graphic was my first version of the radio advertisement for FITS. I was beginning to warm up to animated graphics and perfecting transitions and timing. After sending this advertisement to Nancy, I began designing a new concept for the newly retitled radio show: "FACE-OFF WITH FITS."
I already had a vision of what a "face-off" looked like so I began brainstorming for a fitting concept with fonts, images, and animation.

DROPPING MICROPHONE

Animation

ASSIGNMENT #2

This microphone was my first attempt with animation. The second assignment FITS gave me was to create an animated advertisement for the upcoming radio show that is going to be broadcast on the FITSnews website. Nancy wanted the graphic to have smooth transitions, sharp images, and a creative concept. The name of show was not decided at this point, but I got a head start on learning the design elements behind animating.

Square Morning Blast Advertisement

MORNING BLAST WEB GRAPHIC
Square pop-up advertisement (250x250)
ASSIGNMENT #1

Still under the first assignment, Nancy suggested that I do a different concept for square banner advertisements. I think this graphic is simple but attractive in that it attracts South Carolina natives with the familiar palmetto tree and it is easily legible with the punch label font. I personally like this one the best out of the three that I did for the first assignment.

MORNING BLAST AD
Leaderboard web banner (728x90)

ASSIGNMENT #1

This second leaderboard ad is a revised copy of the first leaderboard for the first assignment. The title was changed from "Morning Dose" to "Morning Blast" for the news briefing service. Nancy, my boss, encouraged me to design an advertisement that was less edgy and had traditional South Carolina images. Less edgy may not have been achieved, but it is definitely an improvement from the previous.
